Coach Tourism CouncilThe Coach Tourism Council was set up 25 years ago to promote travel and tourism by coach. Today its membership of around 300 is more or less equally divided between coach tour operators and industry suppliers. A consumer website www.findacoachholiday.com is a guide to finding a coach tour excursion, short break or escorted coach holiday from across the UK with CTC members. The B2B website www.coachtourismcouncil.co.uk promotes the organisation and its supplier members, news, events, fam trips and member benefits.

Members can also use or adapt this short video promoting coach tours.

New CTC Website Now Online

The CTC’s website – www.coachtourismcouncil.co.uk – has been rebuilt and redesigned and is now live. With a simpler, clearer format, we hope members will find it easier to use and keep up to date with upcoming events and news. The site continues to list and provide links to all members and the services they provide, while also linking to www.findacoachholiday.com, which is exclusively for CTC tour operator members.

2016 Coach Holiday Conference

Branding, marketing and social media will be speaker topics at the 2016 Coach Holiday Conference & Workshop being held at the four-star Holiday Inn, Stratford upon Avon, from February 21-22.

Sid Madge started the Mad Hen Agency in 2010, a leading exponent of business branding for more than 30 years, working on branding for many household name companies including Visa, Heinz, Land Rover and Sainsbury’s. He will show how to innovate, improve and connect with customers by building brands that touch hearts and minds, inspire people and drive business performance.

Hoda Lacey of Hoda Lacey Consulting has wide experience across the travel industry. In addition to running training courses focusing on motivation and effective management, she is also an expert on social media and the effects of new technology in the travel industry. She will pose the question; “Should I hop on the social media bandwagon?” “Is it cost-effective, or too time-consuming?” and “Is being in the public domain worth the risk of negative exposure?”

With Stratford upon Avon celebrating 400 years of William Shakespeare’s legacy in 2016, Shakespeare’s England, the destination management organisation for the region, will be hosting a fam trip on the Sunday to show a range of existing attractions and giving details of new exhibitions and events for 2016, including a new immersive theatrical experience at the Royal Shakespeare Company, and a reimagining of Shakespeare’s final home, New Place and Shakespeare’s Schoolroom, open for the first time to the public.

Registrations are now being taken for the event, which will again be in a 24-hour format with a formal dinner on Sunday, morning conference session on Monday, followed by the popular CTC Workshop. Details for the conference, CTC news and member events can be found at www.coachtourismcouncil.co.uk.

CTC Partners

We owe a special debt of gratitude to CTC Partners for their additional support, which helps to ensure the CTC has the resources to continue to spearhead the promotion of travel and tourism by coach. Thanks goes to Caledonian MacBrayne, DFDS Seaways, Condor Ferries, made Tourism Marketing and Towergate Chapman Stevens for continuing as CTC Partners in 2016.

New Members

We are delighted to welcome several new members. They are wholesaler JAC Travel whose services will be managed in Edinburgh by Diana Thomson (formerly of Celtic Welcomes); another wholesaler, the Travel Partner Group in Austria, now with a UK office run by Ron Hehir; the Cairngorm Mountain at Aviemore, boasting the only funicular railway in Scotland, and mountain top restaurant with panoramic views from over 3,500-feet; the Churches Conservation Trust, which is now offering group visits to selected churches.

Last but not least, is Nord Tourisme based in Lille, which promotes World War One battlefield tours, attractions and museums in the northwest region of France.
