Go Ape imagesSherwood Forest is a great place to visit as a group, with team building activities such as Go Ape, Segways, cycling, Robin Hood themed events, shooting, falconry experiences and many more, writes Harley. With a slight fear of heights, it was a great opportunity to face our fears and complete the tree-top adventure. Arriving at the front desk of the Go Ape! hut, we were greeted by our instructor who took our group to get our harnesses.

Tree Top Adventure (8) - Go ApeOnce geared up we were shown how to use our equipment and attach to the zip wires (it’s vital to stay attached!), and of course, go through the safety precautions. There were around five or six different levels, getting progressively higher and more difficult. Each course had a set of tunnels, steps and bridge crossings that test your balance. Each course ends with a zip wire guiding you safely back to ground level - which does requires some skills! (Check out the Group Travel World Facebook page to see videos.)

The course also featured a Tarzan Swing where you swing into the net and climb your way back to a treetop platform. Some people choose the comical Tarzan scream ‘ahhhahaha’ to go along with the swing. As an adult, I admired the confident fearless children who came whizzing past me several times. There was a large school group children have to be accompanied by an adult so gives teachers a great excuse to get involved and have a go!

Paige adds: “Go Ape is the perfect team bonding experience, helping and encouraging each other round the course but it was also a fun personal experience! I’m not too fond of heights but with the help of the Go Ape team and all their instructions you feel more than safe and can then relax and let the fun and enjoyment take over!”
