May 16, 2015 saw the opening of Star Wars at Madame Tussauds London, an immersive experience based on the franchise, which has been created in close collaboration with Disney and Lucasfilm. The attraction opened ahead of Star Wars Episode VII, which is scheduled for release in December 2015.

Spanning two floors, visitors enter via the dimly lit, dramatic decks of the Deathstar, greeted by convincing characters in costume. It was reported that the attraction took a total 12 months to complete, with around 180 sculptors contributing. A similar exhibition has been replicated in Madame Tussauds Berlin. Pictured (above) is GTW’s Amy Moore seated with Chewbacca on the flight deck of the Millennium Falcon.

It reportedly took 1,000 hours to complete the Wookie warrior’s authentic look, with 10 hair inserters using real yak hair. Additional settings span Star Wars Episodes I-VI, including the smoky swamps of Dogabah with Yoda (measuring a petit 66cm) and the iconic ‘I Am Your Father Scene,’ which invites a reasonably priced professional photo opportunity. Entry to Star Wars at Madame Tussauds London is included in the main admission price. Crowding is limited, with last entry at 2000hrs.
