Visitors to Cheddar Gorge & Caves can discover a magical festive secret hidden deep underground this Christmas. A team of Father Christmas’ elves has been hard at work constructing a fantastical workshop deep inside Gough’s Cave, and in the run up to Christmas, Santa himself will be paying a visit to check all the lists and ensure everything is ready for the big day. He’s given special permission for visitors to go behind the scenes, which will be taking place every weekend from 16 November to 8 December and then daily from 14-24 December.

See the elves checking destinations, sorting letters, making toys and inspecting the famous sleigh to ensure all is well before the great man sets off on Christmas Eve. There’s even the chance to take a peek in to the elves’ kitchen and bathroom as well as the toy workshop and the reindeer stables. As part of the fun there will be the chance to sing some festive songs, listen to a special Cheddar Christmas tale and receive a gift from Father Christmas himself, all within the stunning surroundings of this incredible show cave. Father Christmas is also welcoming four-legged visitors and he even has some doggy treats for well-behaved canines.

The experience will last approximately 30 minutes and take place at 11.15am, 12.15pm, 1pm and 2.45pm (additional times may be added depending on demand). The experience is free with a Christmas at Cheddar Ticket and a valid Group Day Ticket (pre-booking is essential and Groups of 12+ receive a 25% discount). There will be a £5 charge for under 5s.
