Staff and guests at Barnett Hill will be raising a glass at a glitzy Champagne and Canapé reception to mark the hotel’s official re-opening, following the completion of the first stage of an extensive renovation.

The beautiful four-star Queen Anne-style country house, situated in the beautiful backdrop of the Surrey Hills, dates back to the 1900s, when it was constructed by Frank Cook, the grandson of the renowned travel agent, Thomas Cook. The property was then loaned to the British Red Cross as a hospital during WW2, becoming a rehabilitation centre for the injured. In the years following, the British Red Cross opened the house to the public until it was turned into a hotel.

The new owners of Barnett Hill are re-opening the hotel with an exclusive Champagne and Canapé reception on Thursday, 20TH September. The event will mark the end of phase one of the renovation project, which has seen the historic building turn into a luxury 4-star hotel, perfect for weddings and romantic getaways.

Peter Hinchcliffe, co-owner of Barnett Hill, said: “We are so pleased with the end results of phase one of Barnett Hill’s renovation. The hotel looks amazing and has now well and truly been transformed into an elegant, beautiful place for our guests to retreat.”

The reception will be attended by an array of guests and suppliers to celebrate a new era at Barnett Hill.

Peter added: “The history of Barnett Hill makes the hotel even more charming, and adding a new lease of life with this refurbishment is just what it needed. But this is just the beginning, as phase two will be starting shortly. I think many people will be excited to see what an ex Red Cross centre looks like when turned into a luxurious hotel. We do still have a few spaces left for the evening, but people will have to be quick!”
