Itinerary

10:00am – Welcome at The Stockyard

Start your day with coffee and a selection of local tastings, including:

  • Grasmere bacon cob
  • Sausage tastings
  • Scarborough Fare seafood
  • Jenny's Cuisine Asian food

Experience the UK's largest town-centre livestock market while learning about the exciting £12 million redevelopment, transforming The Stockyard into a flagship destination for food, culture, education and markets, due for completion in 2028.


11:00am – Walk into Melton Mowbray (Market Day)

Explore the bustling market town and stop at the iconic Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe, a Melton institution for more than 175 years and a showcase of traditional hand-raised pork pie craftsmanship.


11:30am – Brockleby's Pie Shop

Watch an award-winning pork pie making demonstration and discover the story behind the famous Authentic Melton Mowbray Pork Pie.


12:15pm – Travel to Ferneley's Dairy Ice Cream Barn
12:45pm – Working Dairy Farm Visit

Enjoy a visit to this popular farm attraction featuring:

  • Homemade dairy ice cream
  • Working farm setting
  • Mini golf
  • Time to relax and explore

1:45pm – Depart for Belvoir Castle

Discover one of England's most spectacular country estates.

Pronounced "Beaver", Belvoir Castle has stood proudly above the Vale since Norman times and has been home to the Dukes of Rutland for almost 1,000 years. Its dramatic towers, beautiful interiors and sweeping views make it one of the country's finest stately homes.


2:15pm – Belvoir Castle

Enjoy:

  • Short guided castle tour
  • Traditional afternoon tea with freshly baked scones

Belvoir is also recognised for its connection to the history and popularisation of the traditional English afternoon tea.


3:30–3:45pm – Depart
Approximately 4:15–4:30pm – Return to The Stockyard
