Disney Theatrical’s The Lion King has extended its booking period at the Lyceum Theatre through to January 4, 2015.

The Lion King opened in the West End’s Lyceum Theatre on October 19, 1999, following previews from September 1999, to critical acclaim. The show celebrated its 14th anniversary in London in October 2013 and is currently the eighth longest-running musical in West End history.

The show has a book by Roger Allers and Irene Mecchi, songs by Elton John and Tim Rice, with additional songs by Lebo M, Julie Taymor, Mark Mancina and Hans Zimmer. It is directed by Julie Taymor and designed by Richard Hudson, with lighting by Donald Holder and choreography by Garth Fagan.
