Frankfurt invites group tour planners to ‘Take a Closer Look’

Frankfurt is looking to boost the number of UK groups with a new campaign that invites tour planners to take a closer look at the German city.

‘Frankfurt – Take a Closer Look’ highlights the city’s remarkable history, heritage and culture, together with its artisan food and drink, including the traditional Apfelwein restaurants. The campaign has been timed to coincide with the opening, later this year, of the city’s new DomRömer Quarter, a major project to reconstruct parts of the historic city centre destroyed during the Second World War according to the original plan.

The campaign is also reminding tour planners and group travel organisers that at weekends, the city’s luxury four-star and five-star hotels, popular with corporate clients during the week, can offer attractive group rates for weekend stays.

Commenting on the new campaign, Anke Haub, international marketing manager with Frankfurt Tourism, says: “Frankfurt is well known as a major financial and conference centre. However, our old town, together with the Old Sachsenhausen district, home to our world-famous Apfelwein restaurants, and the Main River, offer groups something special, and many memorable experiences.

“Equally important, at weekends, our modern, luxury hotels, having said goodbye to their corporate guests, can provide four and five-star accommodation at value-for-money prices that will appeal to group bookers. Add to that our ‘new’ old town that officially opens in September, and we have even more reasons to invite group travel organisers and tour planners to take a closer look.”

Frankfurt Tourism has produced two new suggested tour itineraries to inspire tour planners.

“Our three-night city break by air ‚Discover Surprising Frankfurt’ includes a walking tour of the old town, an evening cruise on the River Main, and the opportunity to experience one of Frankfurt’s famous ‘Apfelwein’ restaurants,” says Anke Haub. “For coach tour operators we’ve put together a suggested six-night tour by coach that includes Frankfurt and the popular Rhine-side town of Rudesheim, and an optional visit to Cologne on the journey to or from the UK.”
