Greatdays' Manchester Sightseeing Tours has launched ‘Secrets of the City’, a new, unique bus tour that celebrates Manchester’s innovative spirit and reveals stories about the city and its people.

The 90-minute tour features a live commentary delivered by specially trained Blue Badge Tourist Guides. Passengers will hear more than 100 unusual facts and quirky tales about Manchester’s buildings, heritage, transport, technology, religion, science, food, education, football, industry, culture, literature and politics. The commentary also reveals stories about many of Manchester’s famous residents as well as the city’s world-famous music scene.

Paul Beaumont, executive director of Greatdays Travel Group, says: “Manchester has a remarkable story to tell. This new tour, developed over many months, offers visitors to the city a different and altogether unique experience. Our specially trained Blue Badge Tourist Guides will keep passengers informed throughout the trip as the route passes by the famous sights of Manchester. At the end of 90 minutes, passengers will have discovered Manchester’s rich heritage as a world ‘City of Firsts’, the birthplace of new ideas, innovations, discoveries and great inventions.

“The specially branded double-deck bus is fully enclosed, and heated, meaning tours can operate in any weather. After all, it does occasionally rain in Manchester! The bus and guides are also available to hire for groups wanting to put together their own Manchester sightseeing tour experience.”

Tours operate every Saturday at 11am and 2pm from Liverpool Road, near to the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester city centre. Each passenger receives a free souvenir guide and route map.

Manchester’s famous sights include the Free Trade Hall, the Midland Hotel, Liverpool Road Station, the Central Library, Manchester Town Hall, the universities of Manchester, the Pankhurst Centre, Chetham’s Library and Manchester Cathedral.
