Enta Ticketing Solutions, which supplies ticket software to West End and regional theatres, has been acquired by Italian company Best Union SpA. Acquired at a reported cost of £900,000, Enta joins Best Union’s other assets which include ticketing deals with The Louvre and La Scala. Andrew Sharp, managing director of Enta Ticketing Solutions, said: “Being part of a larger ticketing group will enable the Enta staff to expand their knowledge of other ticketing sectors and to build further on the excellent service delivered to Enta clients … This merger will strengthen our ability to serve our clients. We have confirmed that no employees are at risk.”

London Wonderground has returned for its second year to South Bank. The summer-long festival of the best cabaret, circus and sideshows from around the world is headlined by LIMBO, a critically-acclaimed show which mixes acrobatics, live music, circus and dance. LIMBO entertains visitors in the 1920s-inspired ‘Spiegeltent’, while fairground rides and outdoor bars mix together with other live entertainment to transform the area into a large, fun-filled festival.

The chief executive of English National Opera, Loretta Tomasi, has revealed she is to step down from the role later in the year. After ten years with the company, and seven as chief executive, Tomasi has said it is “the right time for me to choose a new path” and described her time with the company as “a privilege”. ENO chair, Martyn Rose, said: “Loretta’s contribution to ENO over the last decade has been immense. She has steered the company through challenging times and enabled it to build a national and international reputation for excellent, highly dramatic opera that makes ENO unique.”

It has been announced that Killian Donnelly is to head the cast of new musical The Commitments, which opens in September at the Palace Theatre. Roddy Doyle’s best-selling novel tells the story of a bunch of amateur musicians in Dublin who become an unlikely success. Donnelly, who has a string of high-profile West End credits to his name, will play lead singer Declan “Deco” Cuffe.
