Visit Lincoln has been shortlisted as a ‘Perfect Partner’ in LNER’s 2019 Legends Awards, designed to recognise and celebrate the achievements of LNER employees and the partners they work with.

“The nomination came as a wonderful surprise,'' says Charlotte Goy from Visit Lincoln. “We’ve been working with LNER for the last two and a half years in anticipation of the increased Lincoln to London rail service, and it’s very rewarding to know that they value their relationship with us, as much as we do with them. It really has grown into a perfect partnership.”

The nomination came four days after LNER confirmed its new Lincoln to London timetable which starts in October 2019. It follows seven years of work by Visit Lincoln. In 2013 it joined forces with other local businesses to lobby for better rail service between London and Lincoln. But the pace of activity really picked up in 2017 under the leadership of Visit Lincoln’s former CEO Lydia Rusling. Joint promotions and campaigns, which included the Lincoln Knights going to Kings Cross train station, really helped cement the partnership.

Following the King's Cross event, Visit Lincoln invited LNER’s management team to Lincoln and introduced them to local businesses including the University of Lincoln and Lincoln City Football Club. Throughout 2018 Visit Lincoln organised familiarisation trips and joint promotions, and in June 2019 it hosted LNER’s leadership team away-day and helped organised an LNER stakeholder event in Lincoln. “Our goal is to continue promoting Lincoln as a great place to live, work, visit and invest in.” adds Charlotte. “We are changing the way people see Lincolnshire. Our successful branding and storytelling of the city and county is attracting workers, students, investors, businesses and families. When Visit Lincoln succeeds, the whole county benefits. Being nominated as a Perfect Partner gives us a solid foundation for future success.” The awards take place on Thursday, 10th October in Doncaster.
