A collection of Cumbrian based businesses are flying the flag for the Lake District and Cumbria at one of the UK’s biggest domestic tourism and trade shows. The British Tourism and Travel Show (BTTS), on March 19 at the NEC in Birmingham, brings together coach operators and group travel organisers seeking fresh new ideas for trips, tours and itineraries for the year ahead.
Windermere Lake Cruises will be exhibiting on the Visit Lake District/Cumbria Tourism stand alongside other popular Cumbrian attractions including Ullswater Steamers, Muncaster Castle and Holker Hall and Gardens (pictured here). The cruise company’s sister attraction Lakeland Motor Museum will also be represented together with venues that took part in Cumbria Tourism’s successful Culture Campaign, which highlighted the importance of indoor historical, art and culture-led attractions across the region.
Speaking ahead of the event, Jennifer Cormack, Director of Sales and Marketing at Windermere Lake Cruises said: “In this current climate it’s vital that we highlight the importance of the domestic coach and group market in bringing tourism to our region. Visitor numbers are still not quite as high as they were pre-pandemic and with household budgets squeezed tighter than ever we need to showcase the value of travelling to Cumbria.
“By collaborating with our fellow attractions, we have an opportunity to demonstrate the full breadth of visitor opportunities in Cumbria. We’re also very excited to share with the travel trade that Trenchers, the award-winning fish and chip restaurant, will be opening on site in Bowness in July, with their first north-west based seafood restaurant on our Bowness site. Their superior quality seafood will be a valuable addition to our offering and I envisage it will be particularly popular with the travel trade and group audience. We’re looking forward to sharing this news with trade visitors to the show.”
The Cumbrian delegation will be displaying the true breath of the tourism offering in the county. Whether visitors are seeking to enjoy a cruise, visit a castle or historic house, see rare artwork and artefacts of significant historical value or simply hike in the hillsides, Cumbria has it all. Visitors to the event will be able to learn more about combined itineraries that not only take in attractions but include lunch stops for guests.
Visitors to BTTS will be able to find Windermere Lake Cruises and the other Cumbrian businesses on Stand D14.
